CLUTCH CABLE ABUTMENT PRE 1968
Threaded abutment on the gearbox outer cover that anchors the clutch cable and works with a slotted ferrule to set clutch adjustment.
This is the clutch cable abutment that threads into the gearbox outer cover, giving the clutch cable a fixed point to land on before it runs down to the clutch actuator. It works together with a slotted ferrule on the cable itself, and between the two of them you get the adjustment range needed to set up proper clutch free play at the lever.

On the older bikes it shows up under the part number T1644 before Triumph moved to the modern numbering system as 57-1644 — same physical piece, just a different stamp in the parts book. It turns up in the gearbox outer cover figures alongside the other lever and cable hardware.
