This is the lock nut for the clutch release adjuster (parts book calls it the clutch release spoke) inside the gearbox outer cover. It shows up in the gearbox outer cover figures across the catalog, and its job is to hold the clutch release adjustment where you set it once the mechanism is dialed in.

It's a small part, easy to overlook, but if it's missing or worn out the clutch adjustment can wander on its own. The legacy T1937 stamp is the older reference for the same nut, and M57-1937 is another form of the same number in our records.
Given how small and inexpensive a part this is, it's worth having a spare on hand whenever you're in the gearbox outer cover doing clutch adjustment work.
