This is the folding kickstart arm for pre-unit Triumph twins, part number 57-1270, also known under the older T1270 designation. It's the lever that folds down off the gearbox end cover so you can swing it out and give the engine a kick over to start it, then fold it back flush against the case when you're riding.

It shows up in the gearbox selector mechanism section of the parts books, which is where you'd expect it since the kickstart shaft runs into that same area of the gearbox. Catalog records for this one span 1960 to 1962, so if you're working on a pre-unit twin from that era this is worth checking against your own gearbox.

As with any external lever that takes a boot to it regularly, check the pivot and the folding joint for wear when you're fitting a replacement. Give the shop a call if you're not sure this matches what's currently on your machine.
