Kickstarter pedal
The kickstart pedal that folds out from the gearbox outer cover to start the engine.
57-1272 is the kickstarter pedal, the arm that folds out from the gearbox outer cover for starting the bike on the kick. It shows up in the parts book under the GEARBOX OUTER COVER AND LEVERS listings, so it mounts to the kickstart shaft on that cover and gets folded down to swing the lever through its arc.

This one carries the older T1272 number in earlier books before the catalog moved to the 57- prefix, so if you're working from a pre-73 parts list you may see it listed either way — same physical part.
Catalog appearances for this pedal run from the mid-60s into the early 70s. If you're not sure which pedal your gearbox cover takes, give us a call with your frame or engine number and we'll confirm before you order.
