Kickstarter quadrant
Kickstarter quadrant for the gearbox, the toothed segment the kickstart lever engages to turn the mainshaft over.
The kickstarter quadrant is the toothed segment that the kickstart lever pivots on inside the gearbox, and it's what turns the downward stroke of your leg into rotation of the gearbox mainshaft to fire the engine. It lives with the selector mechanism, riding on the shaft that passes through the gearbox outer cover, and it's a wear item that takes a beating every time the bike gets kicked over.

This one carries the older T25A book number alongside the modern 57-0025A designation, so if you're working from an early parts book and see T25A, that's the same physical part. It shows up across gearbox outer cover and selector mechanism drawings in our records spanning 1960 through 1970.
If the teeth on your quadrant are rounded off or it's slipping under the kickstart pawl, that's usually why the lever doesn't catch cleanly. Worth pulling the cover and having a look before you chase the problem anywhere else in the gearbox.
