The outer cover plate that bolts over the gearbox shell on unit-construction Triumph twins, also known by its older T1986 number.
This is the gearbox outer cover, the plate that closes off the outside of the gearbox shell on the unit-construction Triumph twins. It's the panel you look at from the right side of the bike when the primary side is off, bolted over the selector mechanism and mainshaft end to keep the works clean and the oil in.
