SEAL HOUSING,KICKSTART SHAFT SEAL 650/750

Kickstart shaft seal housing for unit 650/750 Triumph gearboxes, part number 57-1955.

PN · 57-1955

This is the seal housing for the kickstart shaft on unit-construction Triumph 650 and 750 twins, part number 57-1955, also seen in older books as T1955. It sits in the gearbox outer cover area, holding the oil seal that keeps gearbox oil from working its way out around the kickstart shaft where it passes through the case.

If you've got a gearbox that's damp or dripping right where the kickstart lever pivots, this housing along with a fresh seal is usually the fix. It shows up across gearbox outer cover and inner cover and selector figures in the parts books, which tells you it's tied into that whole kickstart shaft assembly rather than a standalone item.

Worth replacing the housing itself and not just the seal if the housing has worn or the old seal was left to leak for a while, since the housing is what the seal actually rides in. Grab a fresh gearbox cover gasket at the same time since you'll have the cover off anyway.
