TACHOMETER GEARBOX (Body E5757)
Tachometer drive gearbox, body E5757, for 1969-model machines - later superseded by 71-4138.
This is the tachometer gearbox, catalog number 70-9438, body E5757, the drive housing that takes rotation off the engine and sends it up the cable to spin the tach head. It shows up in the parts book under the speedometer and tachometer figure, so it's part of the instrument drive train rather than anything in the electrics proper despite how it gets filed.

Our records only show this one appearing for the 1969 model year, and the factory later renumbered it to 71-4138 - if you're working from a later parts book that's the number you'll see for the same piece. If your bike's book lists E9438, that's the same part under its older-style number.
These gearbox drives take a beating from vibration and age, so if your tach reading is jumpy or the drive feels loose, this is one of the first things worth checking. Confirm the fitment against your own parts book before ordering since our catalog entry here is thin on cross-model detail.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
