We don't charge
for parts we
don't have yet.
Vintage British parts supply is honest-to-god unpredictable. Some parts ship in three days. Some take six weeks. We'll always tell you the truth about what we know — and we won't ask you for a dollar until the part is in hand.
No card at order. A backorder saves the order to your account and holds your place in line. When the part is in hand, we email you a checkout link.
Vintage supply
doesn't run
on a clock.
A part might be sitting in JRC's warehouse and on your doorstep in three days. Or it might be a six-week wait on a small UK production run. Sometimes it's a single batch from a retired British machinist who only fires up the lathe twice a year. We don't always know which it'll be until we ask.
Holding your money for six weeks while we chase that part is bad business and bad faith. So we don't. A backorder takes no card at all — it saves the order to your account and holds your place in line. When the part is in hand and ready to ship, we email you a checkout link and you pay then.
Lead times on this page are ranges, not promises. If we get an update from a supplier, we pass it on — sooner if it's bad news, definitely if it's good.
You don't pay
until the part's here.
That's the whole thing.
- 01No card at checkout. We don't collect card details to place a backorder.
- 02No deposits, no auth holds, nothing pending on your statement.
- 03Cancel any time before you pay — nothing was charged, so there's nothing to refund.
- 04Lead times are honest ranges, not optimistic dates.
- 05When the part lands, you're the first to know.
When you place a backorder, you'll pick one of two paths — what happens the moment your part walks in the door. Either way you pay through a checkout link we email you, and either way the part is held for two days. Default is Notify me first because most of our customers are mid-build and want the chance to add a few more parts to the same box. If you're a one-part order and you just want it on your doorstep, Bill me on arrival is the right call.
Notify me first
We email you when the part walks in the door and hold it for two days while you decide. Add other parts to the same box, then we send one checkout link for the lot — one label, one payment, one delivery.
- Day 0Email lands · "Your crank pin is in — anything else?"
- Day 0–2Add parts, edit the address, or ask for the link now
- Day 2Final checkout link emailed · ships within 2 business days of payment
Bill me on arrival
No email back-and-forth: the moment the part lands, your checkout link goes out. Pay it and the part ships within two business days. Best when you know what you need and you're not adding anything else.
- Day 0Part walks in the door · checkout link emailed same day
- Day 0–2Part is held for you while you pay the link
- Pay + 2Picked, packed, tracking emailed
Either way, you can change your mind on the Backorders page at any time before the part lands.
At checkout
No card, no deposit, no hold. Placing the backorder saves the order to your account and locks in your spot in line for the part. You'll get a confirmation email with our best lead-time estimate.
While we wait
You can edit the address, add in-stock items to the same shipment, switch between Notify-first and Bill-on-arrival, or cancel outright. If we get a supplier update, you get a heads-up email.
When it lands
Bill-on-arrival: your checkout link goes out the day the part lands. Notify-first: we email you first and hold the part two days while you add anything else, then send the link. Either way it ships within 2 business days of payment.
Every part,
with its current
story.
The Backorders page is the live picture of what you're waiting on — what's coming, when we expect it, what you can still change. It's all there. No need to email us to find out where things stand.
Open BackordersLive status
Waiting on supplier · Arrived, action needed · Shipping soon · Shipped · Cancelled. Updated whenever we hear from JRC.
Lead time range
An honest range, e.g. "4–10 weeks." When the range changes, we say why.
Add to shipment
Tack on in-stock parts to a pending backorder. One label, one box, one checkout link — sent when the part lands.
Switch the option
Toggle between Notify-first and Bill-on-arrival at any point before the part lands.
Edit shipping
Change your address up until the moment we print the label. Moved? Just update it.
Cancel anytime
Nothing was ever charged, so there's nothing to refund. Cancel from the page, no email needed.
The fine print,
in regular type.
None of these are gotchas — just the corners of the policy where someone might wonder how it actually works.
Partial backorders ship in stages
If you order five in-stock items and one backordered item, the in-stock five are paid for at checkout and ship right away. The backordered part isn't part of that payment — it gets its own checkout link when it lands, and ships separately. We don't hold up the rest of your build for one part.
Some parts default to Notify-first
Big-ticket items — engine internals, electrical kits, any single part over $200 — automatically use Notify-first, so you hear from a human and get the two-day window to look it over or ask questions before we send the checkout link. You can still cancel or change it on the Backorders page.
If you don't pay the link within the window
We hold the part for two days after the checkout link goes out. If we don't hear from you, we release it to the next person in line and cancel the backorder — nothing was charged, so there's nothing to refund, and the cancellation email carries a one-click re-order link if you still want it.
If a part is permanently gone
Rare, but it happens — a small supplier shuts down, a tool wears out, a New Old Stock cache runs dry. We email you with the bad news and help you find an alternative if one exists. You were never charged, so there is nothing to unwind.
Lead times are estimates, not promises
We give the best range we have, but vintage parts come in on their own clock. If your build is on a deadline, talk to us first — we may know which suppliers are quick this month. contact@lehangar23.com

If this page doesn't cover your specific situation — or if you want a human to double-check a lead time before you place the order — write us. We'd rather spend five minutes with you up front than ship you something twice.
