MAINSHAFT c/w THIRD & LOW GEAR
Gearbox mainshaft complete with third and low gear, later superseded by 57-4040.
The 57-1959 is a gearbox mainshaft that comes complete with third and low gear already fitted on it. It's part of the shaft-and-bearing setup inside the gearbox inner cover, the assembly that carries the gear pinions and lets the box shift through its ratios. If your parts book lists this under the older T1959 designation, that's the same physical part, just under its earlier factory number.

This mainshaft was later superseded by 57-4040, so if you're chasing parts for a gearbox that's been serviced or rebuilt over the years, you may find the newer number stamped or listed instead. Worth checking which one your box actually has in it before ordering, since the two numbers point to the same physical component but the box in front of you might already have a later mainshaft installed.
Our catalog record on this one is limited to gearbox shaft and bearing listings from a single production year, so we don't have broader model-year fitment data to hand you here. If you're not sure which mainshaft your box needs, give us a call with your engine and gearbox numbers and we'll help sort it out.
