AUTO ADVANCE ASMB
An automatic ignition advance assembly for adjusting spark timing with engine speed.
This is an automatic advance assembly, the mechanical unit that lived inside the magneto or distributor and adjusted ignition timing as engine speed rose. It carries centrifugally-operated weights and springs that move the points cam (or the contact breaker plate, depending on the system) to advance the spark as revs climb, then let it retard again at idle.
