Weight, auto advance
An auto-advance flyweight from the contact breaker unit that swings out with engine speed to advance ignition timing.
This is an auto-advance weight from the ignition side of the engine, the kind of part that lives inside the timing cover where the contact breaker and advance mechanism do their work. It's one of the two flyweights that swing outward under spring tension as engine speed climbs, moving the points cam and advancing the spark timing as revs build.

The catalog shows this part turning up in the timing cover and contact breaker figures, and again where the timing cover, contact breaker, and coils are grouped together, across appearances from 1964 to 1968. It's a wear item worth a look whenever the auto-advance unit is out - a weak or sticking weight throws off the advance curve even when the points themselves are fine.
We don't have more detail on this one beyond what's shown here. If you're rebuilding the advance unit, check the weight against its mate and the pivot pin before putting it back in service.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
