Contact set

Lucas contact breaker points set for the timing cover / contact breaker assembly.

PN · 54415803

This is a Lucas contact breaker set, part number 54415803, better known as points. It's an electrical part, sitting inside the timing cover where the contact breaker and ignition coil live, and it's what makes and breaks the low-tension circuit that fires the coil at the right moment. When the points wear, pit, or drift out of gap they cause misfires, hard starting, and a rough idle, so this is the kind of part that gets checked and often swapped as routine maintenance rather than only when something fails outright.

The catalog shows this number appearing across timing cover and contact breaker figures from the early-to-mid 1960s. If your parts book lists 19-1684 or 19-8113 for this same job, that's the same physical points set under a different number.

If you're not sure your machine takes this exact points set, bring in your timing cover or the old points and we'll match it up before you buy.
