LEADING BRAKE SHOE c/w LINING
A leading brake shoe with lining fitted, used in Triumph drum brake assemblies front and rear.
This is a leading brake shoe, complete with lining, for the drum brake setup used on Triumph wheels of this era. It shows up across the front wheel, rear wheel, and quickly-detachable rear wheel figures, so the same shoe was carried in stock for more than one application depending on how the wheel was built up. The legacy form of this part number is W1406, in case that's what's printed in your parts book.

A leading shoe is one half of the pair that lives inside the brake drum, pivoting on a fixed anchor and getting pushed out against the drum by the operating cam or lever. It comes with the lining already attached, so it's ready to go into the drum once you've checked the drum surface and the other shoe in the pair.
Because this shoe number turns up in front, rear, and QD-rear-wheel figures across a run of catalog years, don't assume any one wheel setup without checking your own parts book listing or asking us to confirm which figure applies to your bike.
