STANCHION c/w BEARING
Front fork stanchion tube with bearing, Triumph part 97-1889, superseding the earlier 97-1890.
This is the fork stanchion, the tube that slides down into the lower fork member and carries the front wheel end of a telescopic front fork. Triumph's parts book lists it as STANCHION c/w BEARING, and it shows up under the legacy H1889 form as well as 97-1889. It's a factory replacement for the older 97-1890 stanchion, so if your parts book or an old invoice shows that number, this is the part that took its place.

The catalog appearances place this stanchion in the TELESCOPIC FRONT FORK figures for the TR6 and T120, and separately for the T90 and T100 family, across catalog rows spanning 1965 to 1967. Each fork leg uses one of these, working with the bushings and seals in the lower leg to keep the front end tracking straight and give the suspension something to slide on.
Because the fork internals changed around this era and different stanchion lengths and lower-member styles were used across the range, it's worth checking the stanchion you're pulling against the one you're ordering before you commit, especially if you're mixing years on a fork rebuild. Give the shop a call if you're not sure which one your bike takes.
