POINT COVER TRIDENT

This is the small cover that sits over the contact breaker points, part number 70-6519, listed in the parts books as the Point Cover for the Trident. You'll find it referenced in the TIMING COVER AND CONTACT BREAKER figure as well as the CRANKCASE - TIMING GEARS - OIL FILTERS figure, which tells you where it sits in the timing chest area of the engine. Older parts books list this same piece under the E6519 number.

The cover keeps road dirt and oil spray off the ignition points so they stay clean and gap properly. It's a small, unglamorous part but if it's missing or cracked the points underneath are exposed to grime that can cause misfires or hard starting.
