Patent plate
The timing-cover patent plate, cataloged as 60-1802 (alias D1802), later replaced by 70-4016.
This is the patent plate that Triumph fitted to the timing cover on the engine, in the area covered by the timing cover and contact breaker figure in the parts book. It's a small identification plate, the kind of thing that carries the maker's patent information rather than any moving mechanical function.

Catalog records show this part under 60-1802, with D1802 as the older-style alias number some parts books use. The factory later replaced it with 70-4016, so if you're working from a later parts book or a later engine, that's the number you'll see instead.
We don't have a lot more detail on this one beyond where it sits in the timing cover area. If you're trying to match a specific engine, bring in your old plate or the number off your current cover and we'll help sort out which one you need.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
