BRAKE CAM,CONICAL REAR
The brake cam for the conical hub rear brake, the pivoting piece inside the brake plate that pushes the shoes out when you apply the rear brake.
37-3872 is the rear brake cam for the conical hub rear brake setup, the part that lives inside the rear brake plate and rotates when you press the pedal to push the shoes out against the drum. It's the pivoting piece that turns pedal movement into shoe movement, so if the rear brake feels vague or the cam is worn or seized, this is one of the first things to check inside the plate.

Our records show this one under the legacy W3872 designation as well, so if your parts book or an old invoice lists it that way, know that it's the same physical piece as 37-3872. It shows up in our rear wheel catalog entries from the early 1970s, tied to the conical hub rear brake assembly.
If you're rebuilding a rear brake plate on a conical hub setup, this cam is worth inspecting alongside the shoes and springs — a worn cam face or a cam that's binding in its pivot will give you a soft or uneven rear brake no matter how good the shoes are.
