Steering damper control rod assembly
Steering damper control rod for the friction-type steering damper, also known by its older H3602 reference.
The 97-3602 is a steering damper control rod assembly, part of the friction-type steering damper setup that sits at the top of the steering head, tying the handlebar mounting area down through the damper stack. This is the rod the adjuster knob threads onto, letting the rider snug up the damper plates to add drag to the steering when running at speed or on rough roads.

Our records show it under its own number and also the older H3602 form, which is the pre-decimal book reference for the same physical part. It turns up in both the FRONT FORK and HANDLEBAR MOUNTINGS AND STEERING DAMPER figures, which tells you it's a component shared across those two assembly drawings rather than something unique to one or the other.
Catalog appearances put this in the 1969 to 1973 window, so if you're working on a bike from that era, this is worth checking against your existing damper hardware before ordering. If you're not sure whether your bike takes this exact rod, give us a call and we'll sort out fitment before you commit to a purchase.
