Friction disc
Fiber friction disc washer for the front fork steering damper, part number 97-0435 (also H435).
This is the friction disc that lives in the steering damper stack on the front fork, part number 97-0435, also seen in older records as H435. The steering damper uses a stack of these fiber washers compressed between metal plates to add adjustable drag to the steering head, letting the rider dial in more resistance at speed.

The catalog places this in FRONT FORK figures with appearances running 1971 into 1972, so it's a part worth checking against your own parts book before ordering since steering damper stacks changed over the years. If your damper knob feels loose or has no effect no matter how far you turn it, a worn-out or missing friction disc is often the reason.
Given how these discs work in a stack, it's common to need more than one to rebuild the assembly, so check how many your fork actually calls for.
