This is the timing cover gasket for Triumph unit-construction 650 and 750 twins, part number 71-7263, catalog listed from 1963 on. It's a paper gasket that seals the joint between the timing cover and the crankcase, keeping oil where it belongs on that side of the engine.

It's a one-time-use item. Once you pull the timing cover for any reason, plan on a fresh gasket going back on rather than reusing the old one. Cheap insurance isn't the right way to put it, but it's the kind of small part worth having on the shelf before you start pulling covers off the motor.
You may also see this part turn up under the number CD338/68 in some parts books, since that's the later factory number this one was superseded by. Same physical gasket either way.
