70-3742 is a valve collar for the T100 line, sitting in the cylinder head area up top where the valve springs and collets do their work. It shows up across a run of cylinder block and head figures covering the 3TA, T90, T100S, T100C, T100R, and T100T, so this is a piece common to several of the smaller unit twins rather than something specific to just one model.

The legacy part number for this one is E3742, which you'll see if you're working out of an older parts book. Same physical part, just the earlier numbering convention before Triumph moved to the 70- prefix system.

These collars work in pairs with the valve collets to keep tension on the springs and hold everything located on the valve stem. If you're doing head work on one of these engines, it's worth a look while you've got things apart, since it's a small item that's easy to overlook until you're back together and something's not seating right.
