Shift rubber, UK (football/blimp style)
Rubber shift lever boot, football/blimp style, for Triumph gearboxes - covers the gear lever tip.
This is the shift rubber, the rubber cover that slips over the gear lever tip on Triumph gearboxes. Folks call it the football or blimp style because of its shape - a rounded, oblong rubber boot rather than the later flatter dumbbell type. It keeps water and grit off the lever's pivot area and gives you a grippier place to put your boot when you're shifting.

The catalog shows this one turning up across chaincase, gearbox outer cover, and gear cluster figures, which tells you it's a small item that gets bundled in wherever the shift lever assembly is documented rather than living in a figure of its own. The 57-2450 number is the current form; older parts books list the same piece as T2450.
It's a wear item - rubber perishes, splits, and comes off the lever over the years, so it's common to find these missing or cracked on an older gearbox. Cheap enough to keep a spare in the parts drawer for when the old one finally gives out.
