Chaincase
A primary chaincase cover for the unit-construction Triumph twin, cataloged for 1968.
57-2439 is a chaincase, the cover that closes up the primary drive area where the engine sprocket, clutch, and chain live. In the parts book it turns up under the CHAINCASE AND CHAINS figure, and it also carries the earlier T2439 number if you're working from an older book or a bike with an original tag still on it.

As a chaincase, its job is to keep the primary chain running in an enclosed, oil-tight space, away from grit and road spray, and to keep the oil bath in where it belongs. It bolts up over the primary drive assembly and is one of the more visible covers on the left side of the motor.
Our catalog record only shows this one appearing for the 1968 model year, so if you're sourcing this for a different year machine, give us a call and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
