Joint washer
Joint washer (gasket) for the primary chaincase, sealing the inner cover to the outer chaincase.
This is the joint washer for the primary chaincase, the gasket that seats between the inner primary cover and the outer chaincase to keep oil where it belongs. It shows up in the catalog under the CHAINCASE AND CHAINS figure, and it's the same part that older parts books list as 71-1463 and 71-7009, or under the letter-prefix form T1770.

The primary chaincase runs wet on these machines, holding oil that lubricates the primary chain, and this joint washer is what keeps that oil from seeping out at the case mating surface. It's a wear item that hardens and takes a set over time, so if you're getting oil weeping from the chaincase it's worth checking before you go chasing other leaks.
Our catalog record spans appearances from 1964 through 1970, but we'd rather you confirm fitment against your own chaincase before ordering than guess off a year range alone. Call the shop if you're not sure which cover you're working with.
