Norton Oil Pressure Relief Shim
A shim used in the oil pressure relief valve assembly on the engine's timing cover/oil pump area.
NM.15404 is an oil pressure relief shim, part of the oil pressure relief valve assembly that lives with the timing cover, contact breaker, and oil pump on the engine. This valve is what keeps oil pressure from building past a set point, bleeding off excess so the pump and gallery aren't over-pressured, and the shim is one of the small parts used to set that valve up correctly.

Our catalog record shows this shim turning up across engine figures from the early 1970s, filed alongside the oil pump and timing cover parts rather than as a standalone item most people replace on its own. If you're rebuilding the oil pressure relief valve, this is a piece worth having on hand along with the rest of the valve's components.
