2622/067 Needle clip

Needle clip for the Amal MkII Concentric carburetor, used to set jet needle position and adjust the fuel curve.

PN · 99-7073
Superseded by 2622067.

This is the needle clip used inside an Amal MkII Concentric carburetor, the type fitted on Triumph twins in the T140E/T140D catalog figures. The clip locates the jet needle in one of its notches on the throttle slide, and which notch it sits in sets the fuel curve as the throttle opens. Moving the clip up or down the needle richens or leans the mixture at partial throttle, which is why it's a common tuning point when someone's sorting out flat spots or hesitation.

The part number 2622/067 is the Amal designation for this clip, and it later got reissued under the number 2622067. Either number should get you the same physical piece if you're cross-checking against an old parts book or a newer supplier list.

It's a small, inexpensive item to keep on hand since it's easy to lose or distort when pulling the slide apart, and a worn or sprung clip can cause the needle to sit unevenly and throw off your carburetion. If you're not sure which of the MkII Concentric variants you're working on, bring the carb in or give us the numbers off it and we'll make sure you get the right needle to go with it.
