Steering stem nut for the telescopic front fork, without steering damper provision, PN 97-4317 (alias H4317).

PN · 97-4317
Available in 2 finishes:
OriginalStainless

This is the steering stem nut off the top of the front fork assembly, the one that clamps the top yoke down onto the steering stem where it passes through the frame's steering head. This version is the type without a steering damper, meaning it doesn't have the extra hole or fitting some earlier or later stem nuts used to anchor a friction-type steering damper.

The catalog carries this under 97-4317, with H4317 as the older alias for the same part. It shows up in the telescopic front fork section across catalog listings running 1974 to 1979, so it belongs to that era of front end.

If you're pulling one of these off an older bike, check the threads before ordering a replacement, since stem nut thread specs changed around this period and you want to be sure you're matching what's actually cut into your stem.
