RUBBER BUSH DAMPENER ROD
Rubber bush for the steering damper rod on Triumph telescopic forks, used across several unit-construction models from the mid-1960s to 1970.
This is the rubber bush for the steering damper rod on Triumph telescopic forks, part number 97-1618, also found in older parts books under G132B and H1618. It shows up across the front fork and steering damper figures for the T100C, T100R, 6T, TR6, TR6C and T120 lines, so it's a common wear item on unit-construction Triumphs from the mid-1960s into 1970.

The steering damper on these bikes uses a rod running down through the steering head, and this rubber bush sits in that assembly to cushion and locate the rod. Rubber parts like this one harden and crack with age, and a tired bush can let the damper rattle or bind instead of working smoothly.
If you're rebuilding a steering damper or chasing a knock in the front end, this is a cheap thing to check and swap while you've got the forks apart. Bring your parts book or give us a call if you're not sure which figure your bike falls under - the fitment runs across several different fork setups depending on model and year.
