Rear petrol tank mounting bolt, 5/16 x 26 x 1 1/2, for securing the back of the tank to the frame.

PN · 82-5337

This is the rear tank mounting bolt, 82-5337, a 5/16 x 26 x 1 1/2 bolt that secures the back of the petrol tank down onto the frame. It shows up in the parts books under the PETROL TANKS figures, and it's also known by its earlier F5337 designation for folks working from an older book.

The rear tank bolt takes a beating over the years from vibration and from being over-tightened by previous owners, so it's common to find these bent, rusted, or with buggered threads by the time a tank comes off. Because it passes down through the tank's rubber mounting hardware, a bolt that's straight and true matters for keeping the tank sitting right and not rattling loose.

Our catalog record shows this one appearing across entries from the mid 1960s. If you're restoring or just replacing tank hardware, it's a good idea to check the bolt against your existing rubbers and washers before ordering, since tank mounting setups can vary.
