TANK RUBBER 1/4IN REAR - Replaces 68-5170, 97-2670, 82-3006, 83-5617
Rear petrol tank mounting rubber, 1/4 inch, that cushions the tank against the frame at the back mount.
This is the rear tank mounting rubber, a 1/4 inch isolator that sits under the back of the petrol tank where it meets the frame. It cushions the tank against the frame rail so the metal isn't sitting straight on metal, cutting down on vibration and chafing at the mounting point. It shows up across the catalog under the PETROL TANK and GAS TANK figures, spanning catalog years from the mid-60s into the early 70s.

This number replaces several older factory part numbers, including 68-5170, 97-2670, 82-3006, and 83-5617, so if your old parts book or a bag of NOS parts lists one of those, this is the current equivalent. It's also cross-listed under 43-99478 and the older F967 prefix form.
It's a simple rubber piece but an easy one to overlook when a tank feels loose or is cracking paint at the mount - worth checking the condition of this rubber whenever the tank is off the bike.
