Service size valve guide +·002 in.

A +0.002 in. oversize valve guide for the cylinder head, used when the guide bore has been reamed during a rebuild.

PN · 71-1227
Available in 2 sizes (rebore oversizes):

71-1227 is a service-size valve guide, machined 0.002 in. over standard for engines that have had the guide bore opened up during a rebuild. It's a cylinder head part, fitted into the head casting to locate and support the valve stem as it moves up and down. Guides wear over time, and when a shop reams a worn bore true again, a guide with a bit of extra material on the outside diameter is what goes back in to get a proper interference fit.

This one shows up in the catalog under the CYLINDER HEAD, BARREL AND CRANKSHAFT figure, alongside the standard-size guides and other top-end hardware. It also carries the older E11227 reference in the parts books, so if you're working from an early book and see that number, it's the same part.

Our catalog record ties this to appearances in 1970 and 1971, but we don't have more detail beyond that on which specific heads it was used in. If you're rebuilding a head and need to know whether +.002 in. is the right oversize for your bore, check your measurements first or give us a call before ordering.
