Screw – oil pump to crankcase dowel position (2 B.A. X 2 3/4")
A 2 B.A., 2 3/4 inch screw that locates and secures the oil pump to the crankcase, doubling as a dowel.
This is the screw that locates and secures the oil pump against the crankcase, doubling as a dowel position so the pump seats correctly every time it's fitted. It's a 2 B.A. thread, 2 3/4 inches long, the size you want on hand any time you're pulling the oil pump for inspection or replacement. The older factory reference for this one is E9601, so if you're working from an early parts book that's the number you'll see instead of 70-9601.

It shows up in the catalog under both the oil pump/release valve/filter figure and the inner primary cover oil pump figure, which tells you this screw is doing double duty holding the pump in place relative to the crankcase and lining it up correctly through the primary side. Because it also serves as a dowel, getting the right screw here matters for keeping the pump properly positioned, not just clamped down.
Given how long this part has been in the parts books, from 1969 into 1974 in the catalog record, it's worth checking the length and thread against what's actually on the bike before you order, but the specs here are consistent across that span.
