Joint washer

Primary chaincase joint washer for Triumph unit 350/500 twins, PN 70-4156 (supersedes 71-1456).

PN · 70-4156
Supersedes 71-1456 — earlier factory number for this part.

This is the joint washer that seals the primary chaincase on the Triumph unit-construction 350 and 500 twins. It sits at the chaincase joint face, keeping oil in and grit out where the outer cover meets the inner chaincase. The old part number for this one was 71-1456 before it was superseded to 70-4156, and it also shows up in some records as E4156, so if your parts book lists any of those numbers, you're looking at the same gasket.

It shows up across catalog listings from 1964 through 1970 under the CHAINCASE AND CHAINS figure, which tells you where it lives even if the exact model list isn't spelled out in our records. A primary gasket like this is a wear item worth replacing any time the chaincase is split open, since reusing an old one is a common source of oil leaks.

If you're not sure whether this is the right joint washer for your particular chaincase, give us a call before you order and we'll help confirm fitment.
