CIRCLIP LAYSHAFT 5 SPEED
Circlip that retains a gear or bearing on the layshaft in the 5-speed Triumph/BSA gearbox.
This is the layshaft circlip used in the 5-speed gearbox, part number 60-3494, also listed as D3494 in older references. It shows up in the gearbox shafts and gears figures for the 5-speed setup, including the parts required for the optional 5-speed gearbox conversion, so it's a small but necessary piece if you're building or servicing one of these boxes.

A circlip like this holds a gear or bearing in its correct position on the layshaft, keeping things from walking sideways under load. It's not a part anyone thinks about until it's missing or fatigued, at which point you get play or misalignment in the gearbox internals that has no business being there.
Our records show this one appearing across a long catalog span tied specifically to the 5-speed gearbox figures. If you're not sure whether your box is the 5-speed version, check your parts book or give us a call before ordering — worth keeping a spare or two on hand when you've got the gearbox open anyway.
