Trim strip sprag
A sprag-type clip that grips the seat cover trim edge to hold it down against the seat pan.
This is a sprag clip used to hold the seat cover trim in place along the edge of the seat base. It shows up in the parts books under the panel and twinseat figures, which fits with what it does — keeping the cover skinned tight and pulled down where it wraps around the pan. The older reference for this one is D697, if you're working from an early parts list.

These clips work by biting into the seat pan lip and gripping the trim edge of the cover, so the seat holds its shape instead of the cover sagging or pulling loose at the corners. They're a small part but a seat re-cover job usually calls for a handful of them at once, not just one.
Our catalog record spans a run of years across several twinseat and gas tank/seat figures, so this clip has been used across a number of seasons of production. If you're not sure how many you need for a given seat, it's worth checking the seat cover figure for your bike before ordering.
