Selector fork —layshaft 1st gear
Selector fork for first gear on the layshaft side of the gearbox, working the selector mechanism to engage low gear.
This is the selector fork that engages first gear on the layshaft side of the gearbox. It rides in the gearbox inner cover area and works with the selector mechanism to slide the layshaft first gear pinion into and out of engagement when you select first. Older parts books list this same fork under the T4660 number, so if you're working from an earlier catalog and see that reference, it's the same physical piece as 57-4660.

The fork itself is a simple stamped or forged arm with a fork end that straddles the gear it moves and a boss that rides on the selector camplate or rod. These forks take wear at the fork tips over time from repeated shifting, and a worn fork is a common cause of the gearbox jumping out of first or being hard to select. If you're rebuilding a gearbox and pulling the inner cover, it's worth inspecting this fork closely alongside the other selector forks in there.
Our catalog record shows this part turning up across gearbox inner cover and selector mechanism figures over a long production span, which tells us it's a long-lived design rather than a one-year part, but we don't have the specific model or year tied to any individual listing. Bring in your old fork or check your parts book if you want to be sure this is the right one before ordering.
