Index plunger spring
Spring for the camplate index plunger in the gearbox inner cover, part number 57-3661.
This is the small spring behind the camplate index plunger in the gearbox, part number 57-3661 (also seen in older parts books as T3661). It lives inside the inner cover assembly, where the plate that selects your gear positions gets located by a spring-loaded plunger. Without this spring holding tension on that plunger, the camplate won't seat properly into each gear position and shifting gets sloppy or indistinct.

The catalog shows this spring on gearbox inner cover pages, tied to the shaft and bearing assembly. It's a cheap insurance item to have on hand if you're already in there doing selector work, since it's a small part that's easy to overlook once everything else has been cleaned and reassembled.
If you're rebuilding a four-speed box and things feel vague between gears, this spring along with the plunger itself is worth checking before you start chasing bigger problems elsewhere in the selector mechanism.
