CLUTCH SPRING 650 3-4 - (5-6 plate clutches) Replaces 68-3321
Clutch spring (3-4 type) for the 650 unit-twin 5-6 plate clutch, PN 57-1830.
57-1830 is the clutch spring used in the 650 unit-twin clutch, specifically the 3-4 spring for the 5-6 plate clutch setup. It shows up in the parts books under CLUTCH and GEARBOX OUTER COVER, since you get to it by pulling the outer cover off the primary side. This number replaced the earlier 68-3321 spring, so if your parts book or an old invoice references that number, it's the same part under a new catalog number.

These springs sit behind the pressure plate and keep clamping load on the clutch plate stack so the clutch doesn't slip under power. Over time they lose tension, and a tired set is a common cause of clutch slip even when the plates and friction material are otherwise fine. Our catalog data shows this number appearing across 650 twin listings from the mid-60s into the early 70s.
The old letter-prefix form was T1830, in case that's what's stamped in your reference material. When you replace these, do the full set together rather than mixing old and new springs so the clamping load stays even across the clutch.
