Drive rubber (large)
The large rubber shock absorber from the clutch hub assembly, cushions drive snatch through the primary.
57-1722 is the large drive rubber out of the clutch, sometimes called the clutch hub shock absorber. It sits in the clutch chainwheel/hub assembly and cushions the drive between the clutch center and the sprocket, taking up the snatch that comes through the primary drive on take-off and gear changes. It shows up in the parts book under the CLUTCH figure, and the old-book form of the same part is T1722, also listed under RU7099.

These rubbers are the kind of thing nobody thinks about until they've gone hard and start letting the drive clunk. If the metal parts of your clutch hub are still sound, swapping tired rubbers for fresh ones is usually all that's needed to quiet things down.
The catalog shows this part across a long span of years, so it's been a consistent design in the clutch hub assembly. Confirm against your own clutch hub before ordering if you're not sure which rubber size you need — there's a companion smaller rubber in the same assembly under a different number.
