This is the tab washer that locks the clutch nut onto the mainshaft on pre-unit and unit Triumph twins. Once the clutch nut is tightened down, the tabs on this washer get bent up over the flats of the nut so it can't work loose. It's a simple part but it's the only thing standing between a properly torqued clutch nut and one that backs off on you.

Catalog records show this one listed under the CLUTCH figure, and it replaces the earlier 42-3191 part number, so if your parts book still shows the old number, 57-1046 is the current equivalent. It also shows up under the legacy T1046 designation.
Because it's a locking tab washer, it's not meant to be reused once the tabs have been bent over — plan on a fresh one any time you're back in there pulling the clutch nut.
