Mainshaft 2nd gear (19T)
Mainshaft second gear, 19 tooth, for the Triumph gearbox.
57-0968 is the mainshaft second gear, cut with 19 teeth, out of the gearbox shafts and gears section of the parts book. It rides on the mainshaft inside the gearbox shell and is one of the pair of gears the selector forks engage when you shift into second. Older parts books list this same gear under the T968 number, so if you're working from an early manual or an original box that's the number you'll see stamped or referenced.

This one shows up across catalog listings from 1960 through 1970, so it's a gear that stayed in the lineup for a good run of years without a design change noted in our records. If you're rebuilding a gearbox and pulling gears for inspection, check the dogs and the bore for wear before putting it back in - a tired second gear is a common source of a box that jumps out of gear or grinds going in.
We don't have more detail on this one beyond what's in the parts book listing. If you're not certain your box takes the 19-tooth version versus a different tooth count, give us a call before you order and we'll help confirm what you've got.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
