Cam

Contact breaker cam for the ignition system, part number 54415053.

PN · 54415053

This is the cam that rides on the contact breaker assembly, part of the ignition setup on machines covered by the parts book. As the crankshaft or camshaft-driven mechanism turns, this cam lobe pushes the contact breaker points open and closed, which is what triggers the spark at the right moment. It is a small but important piece of the ignition timing chain, and if it wears or the lobe profile gets rounded off, timing accuracy suffers.

Our catalog record shows this part appearing under the CONTACT BREAKER AND IGNITION COIL figure across catalog entries from 1963 to 1964. We do not have a specific model tied to it in our records beyond that, so give us a call and we will confirm fitment before you order.

If you are chasing an ignition timing issue, misfire, or a points gap that will not hold, this cam is worth inspecting along with the points themselves.
