Base plate

A Lucas base plate that mounts the contact breaker points inside the timing cover.

PN · 425370

Base plate 425370 is the mounting plate that the contact breaker points sit on inside the timing cover. It's a Lucas piece, which fits with the figure titles it shows up in - TIMING COVER, CONTACT BREAKER AND COILS and related figures - all pointing to the ignition end of the engine rather than anything mechanical.

This is the bare plate itself, not the whole points assembly. It gets fitted inside the timing cover and carries the breaker points and their adjustment slots, letting you set the gap and timing. The catalog shows it appearing across a run of entries from 1963 to 1966, so it was a common fitment item across that stretch of production.

If you're rebuilding the ignition side of the motor, check this against your existing plate before ordering - contact breaker setups changed enough over the years that a plate from a slightly different assembly may not line up with your points and cam.
