BSA Spring, kickstart folding pedal

The small spring inside a folding kickstart pedal that keeps it tensioned against the lever.

PN · 40-3085

This is the small spring that lives inside the folding kickstart pedal itself, not the main return spring on the kickstart lever shaft. It's what keeps the folding foot pad tensioned so it stays folded in against the lever when you're not using it and pops back out when you go to kick the bike over.

The catalog shows this part turning up across the gearbox and outer timing cover figures, alongside the footstart and footchange gear, so it's tied into the kickstart and gearchange mechanism on the right side of the engine. It's a simple wear item — if the folding pedal feels loose, floppy, or won't stay folded up against the lever, this spring is usually the first thing worth checking.

Our catalog record spans several years of appearances but doesn't pin this to one specific model, so if you're matching it to a particular machine, give us a call and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
