BSA Return spring, kickstart lever

Return spring for the kickstart lever, part number 40-3275, working in the gearbox footstart/footchange mechanism.

PN · 40-3275

This is the return spring for the kickstart lever, part number 40-3275. It's the spring that snaps the kickstart pedal back up to its folded position after you've given the engine a swing to start it. Without it, or with a tired one, the lever just hangs down instead of returning where it belongs.

In the parts books it shows up under the gear cluster and footstart/footchange figures, which tells you it lives down in the gearbox area where the kickstart mechanism is housed, working alongside the kickstart shaft and quadrant. The catalog rows we have span 1969 to 1970.

The tag on file says BSA, but nothing in the description or figure titles names a specific model, so we can't confirm which machine this one was cataloged for beyond that window. If you're trying to match this against your own parts book, give us a call and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
