BSA Selector fork, layshaft
A layshaft selector fork from the gearchange mechanism, part number 40-3033.
This is a selector fork for the layshaft in the gearbox, part number 40-3033. It's one of the forks in the gearchange mechanism that engages the gear cluster to move gears into position when you shift. It shows up in the parts book under the GEAR CLUSTER and GEARCHANGE MECHANISM figures, so it's a core piece of the internal shift linkage rather than an outer cover or lever part.

The manufacturer tag on this one says BSA, but the catalog entry doesn't otherwise tell us which specific model or year range it belongs to beyond appearing in catalog rows from 1969 to 1970. If you're trying to match this to a gearbox you're rebuilding, check the fork against your existing part or bring in the casing for comparison before ordering.
Selector forks take a fair bit of load every time you shift, and the fork ends and pivot wear over time. If your gearbox has been shifting sloppy or popping out of gear, it's worth pulling the cluster and having a look at this fork along with its mate before you put everything back together.
