Throttle valve (3½ cutaway)
Amal throttle valve with 3½ cutaway for the 3TA/5TA carburetor.
This is the throttle valve (slide) for the Amal carburetor fitted per the parts-book figures for the 3TA and 5TA models, cut with a 3½ cutaway. The throttle valve is the sliding piece inside the carb body that the throttle cable pulls up and down, opening and closing the venturi to control airflow and, in tandem with the needle, fuel delivery through the mid-range.

The cutaway number stamped into the part (3½ here) is what tunes the carb's response off idle - a different cutaway changes the mixture at small throttle openings, so if you're rebuilding a 3TA or 5TA carb it's worth confirming the cutaway your bike actually needs before ordering rather than assuming this is a universal fit across every Amal body.
Our catalog record ties this one specifically to the 3TA and 5TA carburetor figure across the mid-1960s appearances we have on file. If your carb has been swapped or rebuilt with mismatched parts over the years, check the slide currently in the body against this cutaway spec before you commit.
