SPACER WHEEL BEARING
Steel spacer tube that sits between the rear wheel bearings on Triumph rear hubs, PN 37-1278.
This is the wheel bearing spacer for the rear wheel, part number 37-1278, also catalogued under the earlier W1278 form. It sits inside the rear hub, riding between the two bearings on the axle to keep them spaced correctly and stop them from being drawn together when the axle nut is tightened down.

It's a plain steel tube, and a part that's easy to overlook when a rear wheel is apart for bearing work, but it does real work keeping the hub assembly running true. Catalog listings for this spacer run from 1964 through 1974 across a long list of appearances, which tells you it saw wide use in the rear wheel figure over those years.
If you're rebuilding a rear hub and the old spacer is worn, pitted, or you're not sure it's the right length for what came out of your hub, bring it to the counter and we'll compare before you buy.
