Spindle
Spindle for the Triumph quickly-detachable rear wheel hub, catalog number 37-1055.
This is the spindle for the quickly-detachable rear wheel setup, part number 37-1055, also seen in catalogs as W1055. It's the shaft that the QD rear hub rides on, letting the wheel come off the bike without disturbing the brake or chain adjustment, which was the whole point of the QD wheel arrangement.

It shows up in the parts books under the QUICKLY DETACHABLE REAR WHEEL figures, both the standard listing and the non-U.S.A. version, across catalog entries spanning 1960 through 1969. If your bike has the QD rear hub, this spindle is the shaft that everything else in that assembly locates on.
When you're ordering, check what's currently in your hub against the spindle you're replacing — QD rear wheel setups changed over the years and you want the length and thread to match what's already there before you commit.
